Day 4 - Of Tea Cups and Ireland

by Chante
(IN)

My nursery and Pre-K children teamed up and had a pretend tea party. My 3yo. provided the cookies she baked in her toy kitchen. My 2yo. poured us drinks and the baby just took it all in while Mommy held her tea cup for pretend sipping. Fun was had by all (this was going on while the older ones were doing independent work).

After the party I picked up a book and read a story which included, you guessed it, a tea party.

Storytime was quickly followed by educational video time where Schoolhouse Rock's America Rock provided our last tea party theme for easy remembering, the actual Boston Tea Party! (She saw the tea cup and tea inside, but what she commented on was the American flag at the end. I think those associations will stay with her till she learns what was REALLY going on)

We pray before each home school day. When things like this just randomly happen that are so perfectly paired and matched, I'm reassured that God will DEFINITELY each these children EXACTLY what they need to learn. I just have to be willing to give everything over to Him...

I also had a wonderful time with my older children during Geography. In our discussion of Ireland, we combined our our prior knowledge with the new things we learned about the country today. Light bulbs were going off left and right as associations were solidified and created. I don't foresee them easily forgetting what they learned today either.

All in all, it was a sweet home schooling day.
