Home schooling has shown me how interconnected things really are. Our study of art (the Robert Shaw Memorial) led to a history lesson about the artist (Augustus Saint-Gaudens) and the circumstances of the people pictured in the memorial. I hadn't even planned to have the two intertwined like that, but I find it happens fairly often. I feel it makes for deeper connections and relevance in my children's minds which helps retention. Their pool of knowledge is expanded.
