Directory of Homeschool Organizations

Homeschool organizations are very important to any home schooler. Some keep you updated on changes to national and state laws dealing with home schooling. Some are just informal groups that meet every once in a while for fun meetings. Some parents even owe their home schooling to the groups they've become a part of.

Nowadays, there are an abundance of home school oraganizations to join and benefit from, but we have to remember these groups weren't always around. Back when home schooling was just starting up again in America (in the 70's and 80's), there was only one national group and realtively no local groups to belong to. Home schoolers were basically on their own. No one can home school all by themselves. While homeschoolers are the primary educators of their children, every parent needs a support group. Everyone needs someone to ask questions of and go to when there's trouble.

Homeschooling organizations have been set up to fill the gap for home schoolers. There are national and statewide groups as well as small co-ops that might operate in your neighborhood. Each group has different rules and regulations and can benefit homeschoolers in different ways.

For example, many co-op groups are sustained by a yearly membership fee. There may be different perks for signing up like discounts at neighborhood businesses. The main perk for joining a co-op though is the fellowship of like-minded people and the teaching of certain subjects in a group environment.

For more information on home school organizations, this page is dedicated to providing a directory of those groups. Just look for the state or area you're in and click the link to find a group near you! If you don't see a group listed in your area, feel free to fill out the form below and add a group yourself.
