Homeschooling online is one of the easiest things to do these days. There are many ways to find free homeschooling resources online. The information is out there, you just have to know where to look.
When I first started homeschooling, I started going the book route. We went to the library and I bought other homeschool curriculum (sometimes misspelled as home school curriculums) and home school books to help me on our journey. I thought I’d solely be homeschooling from print books. I learned that print books are wonderful, but they are not the only way to help your child receive an education.

Homeschooling online was introduced to me through an online homeschool group I became a part of. I had read about popular homeschool websites from my various homeschool magazines When I went online to check them out I stumbled upon a wonderful website called Starfall.com. Through that website I started homeschooling online. My children loved it!
That opened up a whole new world of websites that I’ve used in homeschooling online. You can find just about every subject you want to teach your children online.
As our homeschool continued through the years, we found ourselves in the situation of having to uproot everything and replant in a new state. We also found that we had to leave most of our homeschool print library in our old home. I was just about traumatized and deeply saddened by this. There was no way to get back all of the wonderful titles I had so meticulously sought and acquired. This is when I found out the power of homeschooling online. I was forced to use other resources to teach our children.
While we were still getting on our feet in the new place I sought after <b>free homeschooling sites. I was blown away by how much I found for free on the internet! As long as we had our internet connection (we didn’t have an iPad, Nook or similar device to use), I could fill the gap quite sufficiently. Nothing replaces curling up on a couch together and turning the pages of a book during our read-alouds, but I did find substitutes that are pretty great. I found audio books and even old classics!
Today I am a total homeschooling online convert. I used to think nothing can beat books (a bit of bibliophile snobbery), but I have seen the light. =) You’ll find a listing of the homeschooling online websites we’ve found and used. Feel free to comment on those pages or add your own picks here.

If you've found a great website/app to use for homeschooling, please share it!
