Listen to Your Heart

by Judy
(Pennsylvania USA)

As a very young mom with my first child (20 at the time) I listened to stories of the women in my family not being able to breastfeed their babies.

Being so young and so new to motherhood, it frightened me to think that I wouldn't be able to nurse. Thus, began a long journey of bottle-fed babies for me...10 of them to be exact.

Each time I would almost work up the courage to go against what was "norm" in my family...I would end up going with what was "familiar" instead.

It is one of my biggest regrets.

I share this little story just in case there is a young mom out there who is undecided and worried about being able to breastfeed. Just because other women in your family might not have had a good experience, doesn't mean you won't. If you feel in your heart that you would like to breastfeed your child...go with your heart and give it a try. It's good to know that there are safe and nutritious formulas out there to supplement or take over in feeding altogether if necessary...but don't let the tales and worries of others keep you from participating in this wonderful experience with your precious baby!

Every woman's body is different. What didn't work for one, might be just fine for another.

Let your breastfeeding or bottle feeding experience be YOUR OWN!

Don't Let Others Write Your Story For You
by: Chante

Your story is filled with so much hope! It seems breastfeeding is scarcely the norm in many families. In my family all I heard was horror stories and was almost swayed by the prevailing thought that breast milk is too thin to properly nourish a baby.
