Our little girl is 18 months now. She's gotten so used to me having her go nakey butt or clothes without diapers that it's a struggle to get her to be in a cloth diaper at home during the day. She will find some way to take that diaper off and leave it as she runs around the house free! You should see her smile and watch her toddle away as fast as her legs can carry her! It's really so cute and I am so proud of her accomplishments.
Her reaction to the cloth diapers during the day reminds me of how she reacted to a plastic nipple. You couldn't tell her that bottle nipple is the same thing as Mama. She just wouldn't believe you. She tasted the good stuff that is natural. It is what's intended for her and he's decided she will accept no substitutes!
The same way she feels about bottle nipples is the same way she feels about her cloth diapers when we're home. She'll have no part of them!
Now, while it would be wonderful to report that this has been a complete transition with her not ever going back to diapers in any way, that is not our report. She still misses even when I'm paying attention to her, much to the chagrin of my husband who apparently can't stand a mess here and there. Yes, I do understand the messes are a bit bigger and messier to clean up. However, I remain in a state of euphoria over the times we do catch and really communicate! I say to her, "Whew! Doesn't that feel better?", after she goes and get to watch as her face lights up with the feeling of pride in her accomplishment (or just relief). Because of work schedules, Daddy hasn't had the chance to bond with her through EC as much as I have so I guess that ocntributes to his aversion.
Ah well, whatever the case may be, Little One is happily taking control of her little life and feeling oh so good about it.
Way to go, Little One! I love watching you shine!
